Here at Shannon River Adventure we have been working with schools for many years and we are committed to delivering programs and activities to give your students a unique and funfilled experience. We offer programs ranging from fun multi-activity day trips, educational programs, to our unique island camping journey. However, we must adapt to these strange Covid-19 times and have outlined below how we would like to offer our programs while reassuring schools and parents of our commitment to delivering these safely.
These are very uncertain times for schools and programme coordinators and it is difficult to know how you, and facilities such as us, can enable students to avail of activities and trips during their TY year. With this in mind, we have put together some options and suggestions that may suit some schools, particularly local schools.
Since we are an outdoor venue with plenty of fresh air about, one of the biggest challenges for schools will be transporting children safely to an activity venue. We have already had several TY coordinators contact us to discuss options open to us all and, through some of those discussions, we have come up with some options that might interest you, including the suggestion that space may be saved on buses by having parents/guardians drop off and collect their children.
In addition, we have been operating this season since June 29th under the Covid-19 Safety Charter and, with the extra hygiene adaptations we have had in place, have a had a busy season. We have been running kids and teens adventure camps throughout and have been booked out solidly. Our teen camps included an overnight camping trip to the island which is run similarly to our secondary school team building overnight package (see below). This worked very successfully with some adaptations to sleeping arrangements.
There will also be reluctance in schools to have an overnight option at all this year so, to that end, we have also introduced a longer day trip. See below for the options outlined.
